Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Seeing the Mountain Gorillas for the first time is one of Africa’s most memorable experiences.

 

Being home for around half the world’s mountain gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park one of Africa’s must destinations. It is located on the edge of the western rift valley (Albertine rift), South Western Uganda and it covers 331 sq kilometers (128 sq miles). In 1994 it was designated a UNESCO world heritage site. Bwindi is also rich in other wildlife, including Colobus monkey, several species of chimpanzee, hundreds of species of birds and many other animals, including forest birds, lizards, chameleons and butterflies.

Two more gorilla groups have been habituated in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, increasing the number of permits by 50%. Uganda Travel Bureau guarantees that the customer will have the Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits available.
